Football is Back!

On September 14th, 2024, DJ Mel graced Fred Anderson Field at Sacramento State, fondly known as Hornet Stadium, to witness the electrifying home opener of college football. The vibrant atmosphere crackled with anticipation as the Sacramento State Hornets, boasting an unblemished record of 0-2, welcomed their opponents, the Nicholls State Colonels, to the gridiron. The Hornets unleashed their full potential, dominating the Colonels with exceptional skills and relentless determination. DJ Mel was captivated by their unwavering focus and impressive execution, culminating in a resounding victory for the Hornets with a final score of 34 to 7, leaving the crowd in awe.

Beyond her unwavering passion for college football, DJ Mel also holds the NFL close to her heart. Two teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks, ignite her football fervor. The NFL landscape has witnessed a remarkable transformation this year, with the Seattle Seahawks welcoming a new head coach. Notably, this young and dynamic coach is the youngest in the NFL, bringing fresh energy and innovative strategies to the Seahawks organization. DJ Mel eagerly anticipates the potential matchup between the Seahawks and the Chiefs, recognizing the potential for an epic encounter. The revitalized Seahawks under their new leadership promise to present a formidable challenge to the Chiefs, setting the stage for a captivating battle on the field.

Fall sports is such a great opportunity because it is just so wonderful to see everyone gather together as a campus community to support our student-athletes not only representing the team but also representing the school as well. DJ Mel likes how all the student-athletes work together to successfully bring out the best possible outcome, win or lose, we are all winners in my opinion.

DJ Mel wants the student-athletes to know how grateful she is for their dedication not only to school but also to sports. She truly knows that they will inspire someone to be like them someday.
